Las Vegas, NV- July 8, 2012 - Ariel Coro, technology expert and author of El Salto – aprovecha las nuevas tecnologías y alcanza tu potencial rocked the audience at the National Council of La Raza’s Annual Conference panel session titled — “The Social Network Explained: Get Noticed with New Media.” The panel targeted affiliate/nonprofit management and digital businesses and aimed to encourage the usage of social media and other new media tools to enhance their brands, fundraise online and flourish in their respective fields.“The key to social media is having a good strategy. Social media is putting all the tools in front of us, but we have to understand the strategy beyond the tools,” said Coro. He discussed numerous new media fundraising tools to effectively propel non-profit fundraising efforts online such as: social fundraising, micro-volunteering, micro-donating and mobile collections

Ariel Coro empowered Hispanics and non-profit organizations that serve that community, and encouraged them to leverage the power of social media and digital technologies to be more successful. He shared his personal experience and discussed the best practices for using social media, mobile platforms, and email strategies for online fundraising campaigns. He also urged non-profits to use technology in order to build and maintain an online network of supporters.Coro also highlighted the fast changing trends of smart phones, many that can now be enabled as virtual credit cards, which non-profits can leverage on the ground to collect donations from virtually anywhere. He added, “Mobile collections allow you to convert a smartphone into a credit card. You can really empower people.”The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic organization in the US and is focused on civil rights and advocacy. Their annual conference took place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, July 7 – 10.David Castillo, New Media Manager at NCLR and Jennifer Edwards, Associate Coordinator of Digital Organizing, NCLR were also members of the panel. Ellie Klerlein, Associate Director of Digital Organizing, NCLR was the moderator of the panel.
